If someone had a fair trial, then actual innocence wouldn't be proper grounds for judicial review. The proper remedy would be seeking a full pardon from the executive branch.
Well, actually it is. There are collateral proceedings for that. But how would a bear that lives in a tree know about that, hey.
Problem is, as everyone knows, that most Italians who emigrated and thus comprise almost the totality of the Italian-American population were from Napoli, Calabria, and Sicily. That's why the "stereotypical" Italian-American is that dark-haired Mediterranean type a la Al Pacino and Joe Pesci.
Leonardo, Michelangelo, the Borgias, Machievelli, and every Renaissance Italian of note (and there are many of them) were Northern Italians, who were culturally and genetically more akin to Northern Europeans than Neapolitans and Sicilians.
The closest approximation of a Italian-American of Northern Italian heritage is Dan Marino, the quarterback of the Miami Dolphins. (Yes, I know he's the former QB, but I'm from Miami!)
