I hate playing against advance. It is too much theory. you play the same moves every time for white and black. Nf3 I play exiting fort Knox. exchange it can have a million different variations

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-openings/fort-knox-french says you are in for a long night of suffering if you play someone who knows what they are doing.

The French Advance is interesting if you understand it and realize all of its nuances.

Clearly you don't.  Tic Tac Toe is more up your alley!

Usually when I say to myself "this position is so boring" right out of the opening it's code for "I don't understand how to play this."

I tried the fort knox a few times in tournament games. Practically speaking it's a poor choice.

I understand it but it is not exiting.

Knowing the first 5-10 moves of an opening, and a general idea like "black pressures the center" doesn't mean you understand it, it just means you know it exists.

This isn't to be rude or anything. I don't understand a lot of openings I play tongue.png

And to think some of these Masters would be encouraging to my student and demonstrate their knowledge. Silly me for assuming. Must come with the upbringing.
