Let me ask you what makes a chess game fun too you
Why It's Time for Me to Quit Chess

@TacticalPrecision
You can just block a player who does stuff you don't want to play against (like dragging out a game instead of resigning) so you don't get matched vs them in future. I recommend also blocking any player you suspect of cheating.

I currently approaching the half way mark of my 68th trip about our sun.
I'm a . I love chess.com. I play (primarily) 3-day games. I've fluctuated from a 1200 to (now) a 991:-(
My resolve? To do what Bobby Fischer did, what Josh Waitzkin did, what Jonathan Rowson did, what Beth Harrmon did--"read" chess books (the book in one hand, a chess board laid out in front of me.
The books I'm resolved to "read"?
Silman's _The Amateur's Mind_, Waitzkin's _Attacking Chess, _Silman's Complete Endgame Course_, and Keene's _Flank Openings_.
Who knows if I'll follow through with my resolve❓ (I'm a too-busy veterinarian with 8 grandkids, too many commitments, and a need to make 💴...
Perhaps you can I could play at some time?

They do nothing about it on here in the vast amount of cases. It's rampant, it wastes people's time, and even if someone's not cheating, I still think this is ridiculous.
Hey, different strokes for different folks but ...there are things I care about like my opponent's care about this. That's how my time should be spent. I'm not sitting there playing out games with a +8 material advantage when I'm obviously tired (the game just destroys your eyes) and don't care.
Well, you clearly don't want a solution, you want to complain. Enjoy, won't be wasting my time with you.

I quit lol. I've tried everything but ...I am mentally not capable of putting up with that. Further, every other player on here gets massively stronger the second they drop 2-3 pieces. It's not possible without their being a tremendous amount of cheating going on. NO other server online features anything like that.
Beyond that, though: I can't participate in games like that. Guy was down 8 points of material and I think I wasted 2 minutes on the clock in complete amazement that he wouldn't resign.
...What do people get out of this? I'm begging someone to tell me. ???????
I think you are looking at Chess too much through the prism of material. Pieces aren't actually worth points. The assignment of point values to piece (i.e. 3 for a knight and 5 for a rook) are just heuristics to help humans quickly assess positions and judge the potential utility of each piece. While Chess games are often determined on some level by the amount of material that each player has it isn't always the case. Plenty of game end with the winning player having fewer pieces then their opponent. The object of Chess is to checkmate the other player, not capture all of their pieces.

@GuavaShoe you can't improve if you don't study at all and feel privileged to a higher rating. That is the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and believing the result will be different this time, in the 15,0001st game. A little studying of tactics or simple endgames is all you need to get to 1400 really. Blah blah blah I have a family blah blah blah me too. 30 minutes of studying 1 day a week is all you need to improve, instead of playing braindead bullet or blitz. You know what you need to do, so do it already.

Play slower game because you do play well but you need more time to think deeper....you should be able to reach 1350 easily if you play slower game and if you take the time to think very carefully on each move.

What a recognizable item this is. I have that experience myself. I don't think chess has everything to do with intelligence. I also read a lot of literature and I think I am quite intelligent. I think the way I play (3 days move) also invites blunders. I make these very regularly. I once had a rating above 1400. I'm 70 and don't think I can improve my game. But isn't it great that you can play this game at all levels. You have to derive the fun from the game itself. I don't know if you're a member of a chess club because that also makes it more fun. There's nothing quite like grinding the brains of your opponent and yourself live. And after the game a beer at the bar and talking about all kinds of subjects is also of added value.
You can improve...learn an opening that you feel 100% comfortable with and play slow game and think very carefully on each move you and your opponent play....at the end of this year after 500 games you should be 1350 easily.....
Of course you need a basic knowledge of tactics and of end game....

At 68 you can very easily reach 1350 this year without too many effort...of course you would need to play a lot of slow games...like one per day....

I think to start with, you should first learn the complimentary openings and the complimentary variations they carry within them.
I started seriously by buying a few books....a few on opening and a few on tactics and one on end game....I did study all of them for a few hours ( 2-3) and i started to play online...
Rince and repeat maybe 6 times and i got to 1250 after a few months....and i did quit for a while...
Started again, rince and repeat and got to 1400 after a few months and quit etc etc....
It take time and the passion to want to learn.

I'm lucky. I enjoy pain, humiliation, and emotional distress. It makes me feel alive.
Your dog look very happy though

I think this is really sad.
Maybe there could be a kind of voluntary coaching system here ?
That is people could volunteer to give some free coaching games to those who are say 4-500 ratings points below them ?
Maybe 2 games, one with black, one with white and either during the game, or after it you give some feedback ?
It should be limited so that people who rely on coaching for their living do not get put out of business, but if it helps, maybe you could refer them onto a "real coach" if they wanted ?!
Good idea. If any player rated under 2000 daily wants a game where we talk through the moves while playing, message me. I think I will play 2 of these games at a time. 1 per player.

Your dog look very happy though
She's not very bright, but she's always in a good mood and is always excited to see me. In the end, can we really ask for more?

That sounds good, maybe it could be formalised in a club or something ?
So people could find one easily ,and the "rules" could be laid out ?
Something like " no you can't have 2 free sessions from 50 of our voluntary coaches"
1-2 per person only, then we can direct them to a real life coach..if they want more ?
I already made a thread before seeing this post. Good idea.
It seems to me like you don't like a challenge or things being too easy so i'm confused.
