Seems like a lot of people have trouble with the idea that some prefer the learning by doing method instead of spending hours reading and analyzing. And unfortunately, chess has a delay between action-feedback unless you replay your game step for step.
Why It's Time for Me to Quit Chess

You should be playing to keep your brain healthy, man. Win or lose the whole point is excersing the brain and stimulating it to possibly avoid dementia or althemizers in your later years. Just my opinion after reading many articles about chess and the brain.

1. Enjoy the game. This makes “studying” or “learning” enjoyable rather than a chore. Don’t just enjoy the immediate gratification of a win after 5 minutes. That’s not real chess and that shouldn’t be your motivation.
2. Play 15 + 10 time control at a bare minimum. 30 minute games as well. Forget blitz. If you care about improving, you have no business playing blitz til you are 1500-1600. And at that point, blitz will halt your progress again if you start playing it again. Forget about blitz.
3. Watch St. Louis chess club yt videos. Enjoy the lessons. Enjoy learning things you may not have known. Things will click over time. The types of videos you watch are up to you. Perhaps openings videos are more interesting to you. Perhaps you like a specific lecturer.
4. Always run your game through analysis afterwards. It literally takes a second. Try to get some enjoyment out of making good moves rather than getting rating points because you won on time in a 5 minute 0 increment game after flagging them. No mistakes? That means you had a good understanding of the position the entire time. You’re moving on up!
5. Books aren’t necessary at your level. Don’t think you need them. It’s a new world with lots of resources out there to improve without reading books. YouTube, this sites lessons/video lessons, chesstempos tactics, lichess studies, even discords where you can chat with other players and learn from them. I’ve yet to read an entire book and I’m 1945 rapid right now. They’re also incredibly boring in my opinion.
Hope you don’t give up on this beautiful game. But first you need to not give up on yourself.

My rating doesn't go up or down no matter what I do so I just stopped caring about it. I love chess and I play it just for fun. That is what chess is about: tactics, strategy, and fun
You're telling me EVERY game features me going up huge early and then my opponent becoming much, much better and faster? How can you people not see how absolutely rampant the cheating is on here. If a 1200 plays 15+10 like this down material, there's no point to even playing the game. You have 800's in blitz on here now playing like 2000's on Lichess. This is just ridiculous lol.
Look at the analysis of this game. Look at how fast and accurate he played after he dropped material. People are going crazy about this on here every day and we're just told to report them but that hasn't stopped this from being the worst server when it comes to cheat detection and IP bans.
So they hang their knight on move 5, their bishop on move 8, and from there nothing special. They make one move defenses and threats up until you throw away your lead on move 16 by taking their pawn, their recapture was forced and then you blunder into a knight fork on move 17 and that's the game. They completely miss using their rook to put you in check move 18 and take with the knight instead, which cuts at their advantage a good bit, except you hang a full rook by leaving your self open to a double check on move 20. A 1000+ player can take away a game with an advantage that huge.
Your moves are actually the most subtle here, I don't think your mistakes were especially noteworthy, aside from missing the free bishop via the knight fork. You managed to make mistakes that forced them to punish you because they literally are left with only one believable option until you're the one whose behind. After that they just ran on the lead they were given.

I think that chess is a game we should play for the fun of it. Avoid playing for the ranking and even though it sucks to lose and make stupid mistakes ; I have learnt that it is still part of life, just play when you are bored or wanna have fun.
And try not to play all the time ; losing all the time not good for the soul.
I always play with my friend Cam, so when I lose I don't always feel bad cuz he's my friend not a random stranger . I win rarely tho but it's really fun playing with him. LYC.

These people put way, way too much effort into these games. They are the very definition of tryhards. Just resign when you drop a piece. NO normal human being has any interest in playing out games like that.
You take this game too seriously, lol. Sure, they blundered a piece, why wouldn't they expect you to make a similar or worse blunder? Which is exactly what ended up happening. You both made numerous mistakes in the game and their mistakes ended up not being so game-ending after all.

They're supposed to resign when they blunder a piece.
Why? That's just silly. If they want to rage quit or just give up, they can do that. If they want to play it out and see if their opponent screws up (they almost always do), or just see how they close the game they have that option too. They have no obligations to stop playing because things look a bit trickier.

But this isn't a competitive game. Once you're down, just resign. There's no reason to put in extraordinary effort into something that's result is arbitrary. Just slap the pieces around. Anything beyond that is just being a tryhard and it ruins the game for everyone. If you want someone other than just the weirdos in third world countries to play this, you'll have to stop making it so miserable for them.
Chess needs the casuals more than they need Chess.
You're acting like too much of a tryhard. You're getting too upset about someone beating you at a casual level despite blundering two full pieces, and it didn't even require any major level play to do it. Don't take the game so seriously. At the casual level who cares if someone hung a piece? No reason for them to resign. Even if they were going to lose, and there's no real guarantee that they are, they're here to play Chess for fun. So what if it's a losing position? Casuals can have fun losing too. It's not all about winning for them.

It's a game. It's not as if God is handing Adam a chessboard on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Though a lot of chess players seem to act as if there is something transcendent or preternatural about it, there is no circle of Hell for those who abandoned it. Quitting doesn't require confession or penance. If you don't like it, don't play it. If you prefer Fortnite, play that instead. If you like watching mischievous cat videos in spectacular 4k, that's ok too. I swear, people take this game way too seriously.
This is a dead forum which was revived for no reason...
The game is losing people left and right due to the reasons I've mentioned.
Chess seems to be doing quite well if anything. People like you aren't going to change that, lol.
Engine has the guy down -14 before I just refused to keep calculating and chasing his king around. WHY would someone not resign? WHAT could you people get out of a game like this? What a phenomenal waste of time and energy.
I'm done. This is sooooo stupid. I spend 99% of my time in games that are totally, long over with people who just refuse to accept a loss. This game will always be terribly unpopular due to the personalities in it. There's absolutely something wrong with people who won't resign in positions like that.
So black gets a draw with white while in a losing position on one site and then whines about it in the forums of a different one, lol.

Too be quite honest man, the attitude you have is very off putting and is the kind that would drive people away. I have played plenty of games after blundering a piece or having a really bad position. I will try to focus on my opponents moves to see if they make a similar blunder and allow me to equalize or get the advantage, and that happens more than you think. It can be really good practice at our level. There is no rule saying we have to resign if we hang a piece.

What makes you think it's doing quite well? When was the last time you saw anyone care about this in America? Or even mention it? ...Never.
Chess.com is home to over 75 million users, and 70,000+ people have joined in the last 24 hours alone. I'm pretty sure people care.
Indeed, who need a lot more than some love from our pet.
