Why not multi board chess...

2 or 3 boards together...side by side

 same rules apply.... players can traverse the entire field .....last king standing....

 more strategic in value....

takes things to WHOLE new level...

I like the multiple (A,B,C,...) boards' chess and not only 3D chess. Therefore I agree to play vs anybody. There is a simplest variant of such chess with moves (traverse) of pieces (exclude pawns and kings) on the same square of other board. N, B may move only to near board and R, Q - to any board without restrictions.

I think that such chess is really a command chess. FIDE command chess isn't the command one at all!

Greatly increases the power of the queens and rooks,and bishops. Knights and the king in the endgame are far decreased in value. 

I believe all the forced checkmates should still be possible.

I wouldn't call it multi board chess. I would call it one board with different size or shape.

Of course we are playing with check & mates! The pieces of every mated king are becoming immovable. I add that the range of Q and R may be restricted to 3 squares.

could be 2 boards deep and 4 wide.....

so more like real battles .. large orders ..moving across large spaces ..slowly..lol

chess notation ... but instead of a1-  h8 

we use center of board ..0,0         like cartestian coordinates...

so in 3 board game..... be (-12 , -4 )  bottom left    to (12,4) top right...? like that..?

because else... board1 pe-4..... board 3 ke4..etc..... but after they start to cross into other boards then how to distinguish?

The sign is a hard problem. The notation (1-24,1-8) is very simple and convenient for players. What's your move?

im beginner...at best....

so....... you set up 3 boards  like above .. and them mentallly stitch them together.. or l/aswell set 3 boards up physically

 just my opinion but the currant system of using numbers and letters is primative

lettes have no place in numericaly based system except if they hexadec. bvut there not..

the chess engine must at some point convert... the a1 h8  to  grid number system

lets try this ....3 boards across 1 deep .. for now.

so  i move ( white )  board #3  ph-h4

 now what..?
