Why pay for this?

Half the time daily game boards freeze up, or lag is a minute to load, can't switch between games, so many issues.

Is paying a subscription any better ? If they can't get it right to start, why should I expect different?  Maybe a scam to get my $ ?

Bonsai_Dragon

I pay and I'm happy.

ProfessorPownall

But is this incredible lag any different?

I know its not my connection. Sure, advertisements can slow down loading of pages, but does paying make it go away?

rileydabozo

It's your connection.

CookedQueen

You get more / unlimited tactics for free.

Isn't that awesome enough?

According to some postings on the forum I'd think the loading of ads for a paid account is reduced, which means the extensive connecting to ad-servers is missing resulting in a way better interaction with the site. In plain words: Good for the user.

Btw. here are many, many user with a diamond ... and no, they didn't pay for it wink.png

Haha maybe it is chess.com i didn't mean to post that 3 times

I want to tell you "Don't spend your money on a diamond or premium membership", but to be honest we have all spent money on BS before.

ProfessorPownall

What does being a beginner have to do with the question?

I'm asking if this horrendous lag that occurs frequently, because of ads, gets reduced by being a paid member?

In the short time i have been here, i have been a free member, and a paying member.  I have not noticed any difference in network connection in either case.

It's promoted that by buying a subscription, a faster connection is assured.

Really? Where is that stated?

ProfessorPownall

I'll find it.  Best to quote directly

Reading about the advantages of being a paid subscriber included a faster connection;  because of the elimination of adds is my recall.

A better faster connection is incorrect. The connection would have to be the same I assume, but the loading of pages and response time would be enhanced. Equals less lag

Now that makes sense.  No ads, less network traffic.  It might just be me, but i didnt see anything about guaranteeing a faster connection if i paid.

Bonsai_Dragon

At 17 bucks a month, that's .57 cents a day, diamond is less than a cup of coffee. It's cheap entertainment that even those saying paying isn't worth it use. I find it nice to be able to play others, use the tactics, videos, and chat on the forums, so I support chess.com.

Bonsai_Dragon

Besides, if you can't afford .57 cents a day, you need to get off the internet and go get a job. geeezzze

I think the blurb just says no ads. It doesn't promote a faster connection. Like bacon, I've been a regular member and paid member and I never had connection issues with both.

i'm having the coffee, defo!

 Or use an ad blocker?

Add blocker eliminates some adds from view.

It does nothing about the lag issue, in fact, increases lag.

Its Chess.com's fault. They would rather hire GMs than skilled programmers. If I'm not mistaken, Chess.com is programmed in html.

GG html.
