I'm not discussing what makes a great player or is it something else besides intelligence involves for reaching a certain goal.
People often say if a person plays chess or good at chess it doesn't automatically means he's smart or intelligent etc... what I'm saying here is : high memory capacity = intelligence. So if you are a good chess player you are already smart.

Someone who isn't naturally gifted can get very far in chess with regular practice, especially from a young age. I remember Nakamura took an IQ test on stream and scored a 102 for example.

It's an area of intelligence and covers quite a few things, but does not mean you have to be super intelligent to be a strong player. On the other hand there are many extremely smart people who are terrible at chess. In general the top players have high IQs but it's just a specific area in what would make up overall intelligence.

Okay, then you would like to say that they are poor and totally self-dedicating to others, right? I can agree that there are a few exceptions, but it's not possible to deny that most of these guys are making big money, especially in Western countries.
Chess as a sport doesn't provide such an opportunity. There's no real money and prizes if you are not a GM.
