Why should a pawn be promoted to another Queen when there is one the board?

Slightly off topic. What piece/ object do you use to act as the 2nd (or 3rd) queen? A chess set has only 1 queen per color.

Upside-down rook is the standard.

There was a long time I didn't know this, and my brother and I would use a penny or any object that was convenient.

I did not talk about his mother? I referenced her since he said that no one is wrong ever which is something mothers might tell a young child in order to boost confidence..... but great reading comprehension lol

And this gentlemen is the example of a stereotypical chess player.  I am dying of laughter from his humor.  There is no hint of seriousness in his post.  I like this guy.

it's pretty damn funny.

I was serious, you just happened to jump to an incorrect conclusion.

You know what I don't get, why isn't the King more powerful. Like he's the ruler of the board and he can move one space at a time. And his wife just dominates. WTF's up with that? Chess is sexist.

The King is the most important piece in the game?

Well in some ways it would make more sense for the Queen to be a General, but then again chess isn't exactly a realistic simulation of a war.  It is more of a metaphor for war and to some extent life in general in my opinion.

thumbs up man!...i like that.but to some extent its irrational

You got it wrong. Queen is not the General. The man standing beside the King is the General and many people mistakenly call HIM queen. Queen sits in the palace watching TV all the time.

No piece is behind the King except the player... unless you mean the player is the general. I have no clue what you are talking about

hmmm...good thinking BMeck, its only natural to think of the player as the general coz he actually controls the way things go around on the board!....good job

@general;lmfao(laughing my fucking ass off)...you are one hell of a funny guy man

Read what I said once again. I said tall man standing BESIDE King. The King's behind is not a good place to stand for a man like General. Long ago some English fools named HIM queen and some idiots believe even now that HE is a queen.

Please read #26, that adresses the poor substance of your argument.

Are you defending the rule of moving the queen only one square ? If not, you cannot decently defend the rule to call it "general".

Avatar of ChessSlimShady

that's what i thought when i first started playing chess. then i realized the more pieces you have, the easier it is to torture your opponent. just make sure not to promote too many pieces, or else it will be stalemate

Since we are talking about mothers, Can a soldier-promoted-queen ever be a Mother? Does he have a uterus? Will IVF do?

first, what if the soldier is a woman?
second, this is chess not a dating show, castles move faster than horses in this game, it is not realistic, it doesn't need to be, and the Queen certainly doesn't need to provide the king with a prince!

hey manic Do u think Generals are born general. He starts off as a soldier then brigadier then Colonel and finally General. To know the full hierarchy do some research. And for uterus they can always fit one by a minor surgery. And give me names of some women Generals.

lol...hey guys dont throw "electronic punches" at each other okay...the Queen is the most powerful piece be it a HE or SHE,there is nothing we can do about it

@GENERALreplacesQ;lol...okay you win
