I was just saying to someone this morning...
You know what is never discussed in the chess.com forums?
No...what?
No one discussing letting the clock run out, and or delaying a game, and how to report it.

I started to play a daily game with a guy. At first, he used to move fast, every few hours. But we reached a position when i'm going to mate him. And suddenly he stopped to move. I have been waiting for days and he dont move. His time is running out, so i think i will win, however it is frustrating how unethical he is acting.
Its also "unethical" to whine about an opponent using their time as they want.
It isn't unethical. Your opponent can budget his time any way he likes.
It is, however, being a dick.
It actually is unethical. If someone plays at a given tempo throughout the game, but sees he's being mated and therefore drags out the game, he is going against the spirit of the game. In an over-the board game, if a player were to stop moving an hour before his time runs out with a mate in one against him on the board, the tournament director would be within his rights to forfeit the player from the rest of the tournament!
This is from FIDE's handbook:
9.3 A player who does not wish to continue a game and leaves without resigning or notifying
the arbiter is discourteous. He may be penalised, at the discretion of the CA, for poor
sportsmanship (E.I.01A.12.9)
In an OTB tournament game, many years ago, an opponent of mine sat staring at the board for one hour and twenty-four minutes... using up nearly all of his remaining time... then resigned.

nothing wrong with that though

What is really frustrating is that chess.com allows 90 day vacations. That is too much to expect anyone to wait through and I've had to do it on multiple occasions, especially when it delays the next round of a tournament by months.
There are "no vacation" tournaments. Why not allow choices of something like "no more than two weeks" and "no more than four weeks" total vacation times to be set on daily games?
I did a Caribbean cruise last year where I didn't spend the money to get on-the-ship Internet and my cheap Tracfone was out of range so I do understand and support vacation time. But 90 days? That's too much to be used in one game.
I agree with Mick. I had someone repeatedly go on "vacation" for days or even weeks at a time. Our single game lasted for months and it slowed the entire tourney right down.
Vacation use is allowed. It's when vacations are used to try to drag out a game that is already beyond salvation that there's abuse.
