Nice pieces. But a folding board... with letters and numbers?!

(For any of those 6 people who got b***hurt by my simple one line comment) It's impossible to argue with those materialistic people. They find every way to rationalize their addiction. A fancy chess set improve your game? haha come on, dude. If you are materialistc and vain, just say it. Don't create any excuses. Embrace your futile nature instead of coming up with weird excuses. But nooo, right? Your ego is way too big to let go a simple comment like "it's a waste of money". hahaha you can have the last word. I don't care. happy.png Don't be mad at me, just keep staring at your stupid ego chess set and things gonna get better haha

It's for tournaments.  Easy storage and transport.

Damn, I always forget you must bring your own set to tournaments in certain countries. Still, I don't like letters and numbers on wooden sets.

I also love this kind of set. The little sphere on the top of the opposite color is very classy.

The curvy bishops are eye-catching, and knights with straight vertical neck are also very stylish and give that feeling of power the piece deserves.

I often use this set when playing on ChessMaster GME

Thank you guys for the comments and for speaking your mind. I respect your opinion and your point of view. Just wanted to share my romantic happiness and great discounts that are going on for this month of February 2018. You know, just when I decided  to get them, I was fortunate to get 20% off and 30% off on top of it. If you compare with other chess stores, the prices are crazy low, I hope they keep it in that way.

It is hard to quantify state of mind and it's impact in sports and competition.  We have even  seen the great Kasparov psyched out and unravel in a match.  Psyche is most definitely a part of chess.  A chess set/ board can most definitely help create a positive or calm mental state. While I don't think it can help you play better chess, I do believe it can help you play your best chess.

why is it that only expensive chess sets have the knight looking done

because they are hand crafted (cut) and the other pieces can be made on a lathe. That is: with wood and stone pieces. Plastics are a different story. So the quality of a chess set can for a good part be determined by the good looks of the knight.

The thing is - you are a troll.

You came to another guy’s post and dropped a single liner for a specific purpose: to belittle/criticize/ridicule his financial decision. That is a clear cut trolling and adds 0 value to a discussion.

And in all your follow up responses you keep doing the same. Not open for discussion, do not respect other opinions, ridiculing everyone’s statements.

If you don’t like expensive chess sets, well, that’s ok. Then don’t click on such forum posts. And if you did, it’s still ok to criticize, just be respectful.

Some folks wax their bishops and no im not kidding

samwri
