Why could it not have happened to someone that is really annoying?  The people that post after the puzzle, 'I'm first, page 1 look at me! ' are equally if not more annoying.

I agree!

Anyway, 4th page .. whoop!

Tee Hee :D

He deserved it.

Personally, I'd refund his membership and delete his account.

That's a little bit harsh

To be fair they should extend his membership by the muted time :)

Why? Muting doesn't prevent accessing premium content.  Now, if the account was disabled instead,  that would be different but actions have consequences and in such a case extending the premium doesn't sound like it sends the right message.

It's not harsh at all.  This is not the first time he's done this, and not the first time he's been muted for this behavior.  He absolutely knows that what he's doing is wrong and he insists on doing it anyway.

That's incredibly disrespectful to the staff here. No matter how much you might like his other posts, those posts don't give him the right to be disrespectful.

What happened to the people who used to post actually helpful things on the daily puzzle page, like MeTristam?

Just a little heads-up -- you seem to have accidentally turned on your caps lock.

That's what MSC157 said:

People like MeTristan are of course very helpful. I also posted explanations of the puzzle in comments below the puzzle. But "stupid" people don't care. "Oh no, there's a hint, it spoiled a puzzle for me." And obviously, you lose interest, despite many many members actually enjoyed and appreciated it.

If he kept all his comments below the puzzle, there wouldn't be any problems and he wouldn't be muted right now.

He chose not to do that though.  So here we are.

The best thing to do is to try to keep the helpful comments regarding the puzzle to page two or later.  This way nobody can claim they inadvertantly got a hint on the same page as the puzzle appears before they finished their attempt to solve it.  And one doesn't exactly have to wait very long to post on page two (five minutes tops on most occasions).  Most likely by the time the helpful comment has been typed up and is ready to be posted, page two will be available.

The only problem with that method is if "nonsense" comments on page one are deleted by the moderator, than the legitimate comments move up, so an original page two comment can eventually end up on page one.  But in that case any possible spoiler blame should fall on those who had their comments deleted.

He would post here if he didn't want to be muted.

MeTristan never was the first to post his thoughts or alternate tangents of play or solutions. He was always delayed by significiant margins in time. But unlike chess.com he actually went into details about puzzle solutions. Shame on you chess.com for killing the whole point of this site... to improve players and promote the game. This world is full of factions that just flat suck! Solving the time problem is easy... use your head STAFF IT guy! Guys like MSC157 and MeTristan should be on your STAFF you knuckleheads... think about it!! NIH to the 50th power!

You know in communist Russia they mute the press and in liberal America the press spreads BS... you can't frickin' win in this world it seems! Chess.com you need to reassess your charter or take your marbles and go home! Your new site seems much better than this old one... maybe a new attitude is in order as well.

I don't know anything about it, but I have strong opinions, and I'll state them as if they're fact.
