You got it right tank. white win. Do you think one should play if it's like that? -or Should one play if the oponent is stronger?

i'm having doubts.

Time stamp.

Strong players have high blitz ratings.  Go ahead and prove Aronian swallows before he chews.

You don't know my standard ratings.

I'm afraid your solution is wrong scott.

You see, it's about how white is a selfish society, causing chaos for black because white doesn't appreciate black's potential.  If white wins, he is creating suffering and poverty for black, and would do better to realize his victory is indistinguishable from defeat.  To truly win this position, white has to realize the potential of black's pawns as well, and support him.  Then both colors can live in harmony by believing in each other.

Scottrf...

I'm not a big fan of a pawn that add value to itself simply because of this rule. (as if its not enough that white claims victory, now it jumps up and rightfully say: "I win, because of this rule"!)

You can see how ridiculous it is, it remind me of that African story where the mouse sit on the back of the pig, and just before they cross the finish, it jump ahead and win.

imagine a guy bringing in a rule like this...perhaps someone can explain whats the philosophy  behind this out-of-character-move is.

anyhow, you have a point.

but should we accept it?

Black can win with best play.

Well it's a good thought, but maybe a chess forum isn't the best place for such ideas ?  :)

I will not fully agree with "best play". I will settle for "creating confusion" and win.

anyhow i did laugh at those examples, you gave and you add some good humourLaughing

But scottrf, you are neglecting the important variation 10.b8=Q, after which black plays 10...Qe3+(best move) and then white takes the queen.

Black would then be well advised to play c1=pawn, and after white plays Qb7(an important move) black can then play f1=N. Since the pawn can repeatedly check the king(which has no way of escaping its checks) Black can draw by repitition.

you guys jokes are downplaying the point i am making. You are creating confusion to cause black to win. Typical to how a game play off. Being the typical chess enthusiasts you are, you obviously have the skills to get something right.

a defeat, downplay a victory.
