I've noticed on chess.com recently that when I promote a pawn it seems to automatically become a queen without giving me an option. Not affected me in a game so far but when I've tried some of games set up from above where you need to promote to something else it just automatically cha6to queen.
why would you trade a pawn in for anything other than a queen?

I think that we should able to promote to fairy pieces (such as amazon and camel)
Look at this position from an actual game. You would promote to a bishop to win the game.
Not really, you likely end in a stalemate. PawnC7 to takes rookD8, promoted to bishop; Bishop e8 to f7. Bishopd5 takes Bishopf7 - stalemate
PawnC7 to takes rookD8, promoted to queen or rook is also a stalemate
