I couldn`t find a proper answer in old topics, but when you play against the computer, why all of a sudden a pawn, for example, become a queen?

This can happen when you play people too. It is called promotion, when a pawn reaches the 8th rank or 1st rank it is promoted to a piece of the players choice, usually a Queen.
