Will computers ever solve chess?

The perfectly quiet mind would make no actions, it would just be.

So posting is a violation or bias too... but I was pointing out facts, while you were the one bringing goals and judgement into it.

Hoisted by your own petard eh?

Those are interpretations of yours. Silence is not a goal.  I asked how does it happen?

And you are imagining what a silence mind would do, without actually ‘having’ a silent mind, so you are speculating about this mind’s actions.

Of course, it is possible to have a silent mind and speak from that silence.

There are no interpretations, and no goal either, that's the point.

Existence does not itself involve any actions.

I'm just happy to have gotten it out of the "chess is a draw" rut.

If no one responds to troy I wonder what topic will take over?

I don't mind talking about politics and religion, but it seems mods aren't so active these days... or maybe they're letting us get away with more on purpose. I'm afraid it might take a lot to get this locked and I don't want to be muted or banned.

Existence does not itself involve any actions.

I showed you your interpretations, though: one, you thought I made silence into a goal, which I did not. Two, you speculated that a silent mind cannot talk, without ‘reaching’ that silence yourself.

Now, if the mind is not silent, it is noisy. Being noisy it does nothing but interpretations  In a technical field that is alright. In relationships it is not.

Now, while I said that silence is not a goal, I also pointed out that a noisy ( non-silent ) mind is confused and nothing it does has any meaning. So the ne must see the necessity of ‘having’ a silent mind. Or the futility of ‘having’ a noisy one. Then it happens. The problem is that we fight this noise through various external escapes, like booze, drugs, carriers, you name it, and also internal ones, like nice, comforting theories that everything is ok. That is also an escape from the actual fact of the meaningless of billions of images floating inside one’s mind, entertaining an illusion the brain keeps missing.

You see, when the mind is silent one’s ‘facts’ change dramatically, one’s whole perception changes and puts everything in its right place, you don’t have to do a thing.

But first, the whole foundation must be destroyed: it is utterly false.

The fact that trolls do use this tactic with some frequency and success to get topics locked is a somewhat sad commentary on the futility of moderation policy here, not that I'm big fan of this topic running hundreds of pages...

I've never seen it lock a good topic though.

Usually it's something off topic to begin with or e.g. a question that's already been answered thoroughly.

Noting your otherwise objections, I didn’t want to say exactly what you did, for that would’ve fed the troll even more. Since he has some kind of fixation, though, I’m glad it wasn’t me who said it.

Not unless they’re backed up with chess knowledge but if not , it’ll be in at least 20 years.

A strange thing happened the other day. I’ve had a deep discussion with a total stranger and he agreed with everything I was saying. At some point he starts taking notes, as we cover most everything about human consciousness and the problems the brain is facing. When it was over he asked for my permission to use those notes in future conversations with others, especially with a buddy of his, interested in this sort of thing. I told that if he didn’t ‘get it’ right there and then, he would have to start over, from scratch, as this is not a system of thought, but a perception in which you can see the whole thing at once, not through analysis and deductive logic.

Stranger still, a similar thing happened yesterday, again, with a total stranger. Just saying.

What's the meaning of life?

Avatar of troy7915

Knowing oneself is a sham.

Tom used to ask this question. First, one can ask? Does life have a meaning at all? We are born, play, work, reproduce and then die. What is the meaning of that?

Only someone who doesn't know themselves would say that.

Therefore your and any disagreement is just proof I'm right.

A desire to have meaning in one”s life will render life meaningless.

I beg to differ. That is not the only reason someone would say that. That statement comes after going much deeper than what meets the eye. Much, much, much more, infinitely more.
