The only way he could reach 2900 is either beating everyone he plays or by playing people close to that number and I dont see any of those options happening now with engines and top GMs playing for drays in bad positions.
Will Magnus Carlsen reach 2900?

If you really weren’t talking about the past, then you should’ve been clearer. It’s best not to talk in absolutes. You can’t possibly know what Carlsen will or will not do unless you’ve traveled into the future. One way to cement my point is to speak in terms of money. Would you be willing to bet $100,000 on your assertion? Of course not, because all of a sudden there’s something at stake. That’s a good way to always look at things… just pretend a lot of money is at steak and then you won’t bother making unreasonable assertions.

His average opponent at tata was 2728. He gained 3 points by scoring about 71%. Tata lets in some lower rated players to make it interesting. Usually his average opponent is rated higher so a if we're talking a year or two long goal then it's possible. If he can average 70-75% while playing 2750-2760 players it will happen. It doesn't have to be fast, 10-15 strong events.
He will never reach 2900. In fact, he will never even get within 30 points of it. If he could have done it, he would have done it while in his twenties. Now, at the age of 30+, all hopes of reaching 2900 are gone forever. If he really believes that it is still possible for him to do so, then he is delusional, as is anyone else who thinks he could.
He will start to decline 35+ now at 31 he is still at his prime and has more knowledge than ever before it might seem impossible coming from a guy that cheats in his games so I understand why you belive that
PD: I already reported you enjoy your bann

I think with ratings inflation, it is basically inevitable that some phenomenal player will come along in the future who will break 2900. Just remember that Kasparov was the first to break the elusive 2800 barrier, and after him a few others have followed (including Kramnik and Anand).
But, right now, I don't think Magnus is worrying about chasing mythical numbers. He just wants to be the best for as long as possible. That will be his true legacy.

I agree.
The 2900 milestone will eventually be reached.
It's like the 4-minute mile in running. Everyone thought it was physically impossible for a human to run a mile in under four minutes. But then someone finally did it ... after that, it was like a dam breaking. More and more runners broke the 4-minute barrier.

4 minutes are absolute, rating is relative.
If all runners improve, then all of their times go down.
If all chess players improve, then all of their ratings stay the same.

Haha, I meant chess related, and you practically answered that yourself. If not this, then retire.
Retire? Why, he's still killing it out there. No need to retire if you're still dominating. I understand losing motivation in many ways, but I think he should continue to smash opponents for as long as he can.

Is it humanly possible?
he has the ability to do so but its just kind of hard considering everyone is bad in comparison

why does everyone think Magnus will start declining as soon as he gets a little older?? personally, I think he will probably reach 2900. a lot of GMs are in their 50's and 60's. maybe Magnus is just getting started.

Was his peak rating of 2882 a joke to you?
It'll be tough. A single loss would be devastating.
Though, since he declared his goal of reaching 2900 (a month ago), his Elo has risen by 12 points.
He's currently 2868. 32 points away.
