I think you have it backwards. When you lose game after game, you end up falling briefly below 1400. 2700 games in six months is a lot of time to spend playing chess. Perhaps you just get tired sometimes.
Win more with higher rating?

Same here. For me , I find its usually just fatigue lack of attention. Usually play better after taking a break.

I guess what I'm thinking of are the two or threeish prolonged dips in rating around june and sept. During those times I'm playing against high 1200s and getting crushed more often than not when I was just a 1500 the week before.
Must just be my mentality when playing with no good rating to lose.
It seems that when I drop down into the 1300s I just lose game after game. When I am ranked 1400 or higher, it seems that higher ranked opponents are actually much easier for me to beat. Anyone else have this same experience? Theories?
