I'm confused... wouldn't you expect to lose to a person with a higher rating than you?
What's the question?

Then their rating is too high.
Your rating is meant to reflect the probability of winning against another person, given their rating and yours. If 2 people have the same rating, each person would be expected to win 50% of the time. If one person is 200 points lower than the other, he would be expected to win 25% of the time. Someone who is 400 points higher is expected to win almost all the time. That's what ratings mean.
So, if you lose 75% of the time against players with the same rating as you, then your rating is too high. It should drop by 200 points (and will over time) to correct this inaccuracy.
I was trying to be helpful by explaining how ratings work, because you obviously don't understand. There's no need to get snippy.
If a person is rated higher than you, that means he'll beat you more often than you beat him. If a person is rated lower than you, that means you'll win more often - BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT RATINGS MEAN!!
If you don't understand and don't care, then why bother asking?
>>but no you have to go on explaining the obvious
Speaking of stating the obvious:

Hmm, gee, I dunno. Let me think here...

I wanted to see everyones stats see if people lose to a lot higher ranked, or if people prefer playing people very close to their own rank.
What an awful attitude! Any reason why you could not be more civil regarding <lanceuppercut_239>'s misunderstanding on your true query? You should be more clear of what you want, and not snap at someone who misunderstands what you mean.
As for the thread topic...my stats are:
win: 1545, loss: 1906, and draw: 1812
Its about the same case as with yours, only my average opponent rating is less than my actual rating due to all the tournaments I have been playing.

And thats what I wanted
I can't find my own stats, but in order to clarify, losing against players averaging your own level and winning against clearly lower opposition does not imply being overrated. Imaging that you win and lose as many games against equally rated opponents and also beats up several players considerable lower rated. Those results strongly imply that you have an accurate rating, but those lower opponents you defeated drags down the average of beaten opponents to make the averaging stats to indicate that your overrated. Statistics is tricky.
Good points, cuendillar. If you look carefully at post #6 I tried to explain this idea (the portion highlighted in red), but perhaps I wasn't clear.
and also beats up several players considerable lower rated. And also lose to several players considerably higher rated; this should balance things out statistically.

When I posted that I thought since I included mine it would make a little more sense what I was asking
Sorry for snapping at you but my powers been going out all night messing up what I was doing on the computer, so I am just in a bad mood.Call it good?
if so lets get back on topic!

Yup . I was just trying to respond to this: I mean some people lose more to people their own level. The point of my long explanation was that if the ratings are right, you should be 50-50 against people your own level. That's all.

We where missunderstood both ways, it sounds like! when I said that, I meant that they lose more to people their own level compared to people 300 points ahead, not just in general.
I just noticed while looking at my stats that my losses are always to people a lot higher ranked then me? is this a common trend to you others?
yes it is a common trend, it is for me! But it makes sence i meen you wouldn't think that all your loses would be to lower rated players, because their not as good!
I just noticed while looking at my stats that my losses are always to people whose rank is 300 points higher then me? is this a common trend to you others?
there, fixed the top post. no more confusion, and saying thats how it should be!
