Do Germans really hate it when people confuse Deustch with Dutch, because I'm not really German and just learning it and it annoys me a little like when I say Ich spreche Deustch and they tell me they don't speak Dutch

I am not german but have learned german as a child.
I guess the reason people hear dutch is because you need to practice your pronounciation of eu it is pronounced oy. so you have to say Doytsch

It was the other way around. After WW2, nobody in the Netherlands wanted to be associated with Germany. Plus we lost the worldcupfinal in '74. Nowadays nobody cares. Funny fact: prior to WW2 the English were the archenemy of the Netherlands and the Germans were our biggest allies. For example, all english proverbs with the word 'dutch' have a negative meaning.

That's true. However, a lot of elder people nowadays say that the german civilians were also victims of war. Half of the german population got bombed by airraids or other means. Plus, we just started to learn about our acts of atrocities during the war of independence in Indonesia.
