To get into the top 1000 men you need to get a rating of 1730, not a simple thing to do.

The women's side is a different story, the top 1000 is essentially a list of all the women who play chess, and it stops at 244, half of whom don't have a rating. The only requirement to be a top 100 female player is that you have two x chromosomes and a pulse. Men outnumber women by a huge ratio so it's reasonable to assume that the really good men outnumber the really good women as well, no?
Maybe you should open a history book some time. Nearly every society in the world has a history of oppressing women. Even if not done through overt force, women have historically been discouraged (or more commonly, disallowed) from even participating in intellectual pursuits. The world has forced women into roles inside the home and nowhere else. Modern society has only recently come around in the last 60 years or so. Your Y chromosome has apparently afforded you the ignorance of 90% of human history. Lucky you.
