People like bitching online about the most irrelevant stuff in the world. That's just how it is, there is no real reason for it, aside from some people having too much time on their hands and too little in their heads.
Women in Chess

a female aged 12 was banned from a tournament for wearing what i think to be normal clothes. people when playing chess look at the board not under the table.

well obviously you can't roll up in a bra and knickers or some pants if your a man but i think unless your wearing anything in which it's obvious you're trying to seduce someone or is just plain inappropriate like just wearing some trousers and nothing else then it should be allowed. i even think that showing cleavage to a certain degree should also be allowed. it certainly should be a very lenient system.

I don't think a dress code would do much for anything. Women are still going to have curves whether it's covered up or not. Hpnestly, myself being a man, I find it to be extremely sexist to even mention it. "Hey, you ladies need to cover that stuff up so our male players won't get distracted." Seriously?? Plus, this is a professional players livelihood and I believe whoever it may be, would be more professional than to let some cleavage and legs get between them and their paychecks..

There was a 12 year old girl in a Muslim country that wore a dress that showed her knees. She was forfeited from the tournament.
Well that's completely different. I though that this incident took place in a country were this kind of clothing is worn a lot, and that it was a secular country.

I've seen too many on the chess.com forums over the years. I guess I'm being a little silly too though.
Of course we all know there are some clothes that are not appropriate, so of course we all agree there should be a dress code (for all players, not just women).
But topics like this tend to spiral into a lot of unnecessary discussion... and I have to wonder if the OP doesn't often intend for something like that to happen... although this topic's OP is not a new account so maybe it's legit.

Yes if it were in the US cities would be burning in protest. Probably the same in most of Europe.

I'm sure many of you who participate in this forum have recently seen a poll asking whether there should be an enforced dress code for females during chess tournaments. I'm just wondering, what prompted this question? There are currently 1552 grandmasters, and only 35 are female. Well then, wearing revealing clothing has CLEARLY been giving us women an unfair advantage.
I'm not advocating for anything here, I'm genuinely curious why people are busting their balls about this when we can be playing chess...
Agreed if it's presentably not too provocative to take the opponent's focus off his moves.
That 12 yr old bs is absolutely sadning.

Thanks for checking me out. It's just a question rooted in curiosity. Not trying to push a feminist agenda because that's a revolving door of idiots on both sides of the argument. I was just wondering if there was an event or any statistical data that supported the need for a dress code. Have a good day
