For the record, I believe the OP should do what makes him happy, but always be open to try out new things!
Sometimes, people don’t know what makes them happy till they try different things.

Just don’t force yourself to do things which make you unhappy because it often doesn’t produce the best improvement results!

People who are happy, passionate, and excited about doing something often learn and improve.
People who are unhappy, upset, and feel as if the situation is like a chore often are less productive and over all have higher tendency to quit.
In light of Compadre's note, OP should add 1 and 3-ply tactical exercises to his study plan, and do them ad nauseum---no point trying to study linear differential equations before mastering trigonometry.
