Down with those pesky Due Process clauses too.

Was Judit Polgar a pioneer?  Maybe.  I think perhaps Zsuzsa was more the pioneer among the sisters.  But, as pioneers go, they arrived rather late on the scene.  There have been wonderfully inspiring women players since the 19th century and in the twentieth centruy there have been scores of women who paved the way for the Polgars.
I  [ahem] recently published a list of my articles on those female pioneers (for anyone who is interested in such things).

How do you know wiki contains that information?

Well, the "due process" clause was in its modern form was literally stated in the Magna Carta's 29th clause of the 1354 re-edition, making that sentiment kind of pointless.

But there is one amendment in the "Bill of Rights" that has never been the subject of any major debate.  Anyone know?

Thanks caseyFgriffin - that is helpful. Looked at that thread and while straying of subject a bit, for what it is worth, I like to say hello at the start of a game and thanks at the end of the game (just as one does in real live chess) as that is plain being courteous - whether that then leads to further dialogue depends on the opponent.

Re. this subject, I note there have been similar threads to which I can only add we need more like jessicafischerqueen to show us it is not a man's world and chess is something we can all enjoy irrespective of gender or anything else that might differentiate humankind - that is one reason I love playing here!

Send me a game challenge Mr Barber. We can chat my friend.

"US Constit. 1787"

Some people have called the group of men who met those 4 months in Philadelphia during the summer of 1787 the greatest assembly of minds ever.  Jefferson, from France, wrote that it was an assembly of demigods. Others haven't been so gratutitous or awestruck, but the fact remains that these men were able to surmount seemingly impossible differences and vested interests to coin a document, while not perfect, that has become a model for many others and which is flexible enough to change with the times.  That has to be one of the most fascinating eras in U.S. history.

Rules are changed for female G.Ms ratings....true there are 4/5 excellent female chess players-but even here games lack deapth of top male players. I think we have genetics as a probable cause. YEA, i know i'am a male .....? I've gone over many of so-called female G.M games and they not first rate !

@eddysallin: I mean no disrespect, but you're simply not good enough to be able to judge the quality of the games of a WGM. Your standard live rating of just over 1200 ensures that you're about as likely to be able to judge the quality of a WGM's game as a child learning their multiplication tables is to be able to judge the quality of a paper in a journal of mathematics.

Don't take it personally. I'm quite a bit stronger than you judging from ratings, and I'm also not qualified. We can all recognize a good move here and there, and blunders and even subtle mistakes when they're explained to us, but being able to go carefully through the games of professionals and judge them using our own understanding is something that's beyond 99.9% of the chess players on chess.com.

Yeah agreed.  He is a pompous d-bag, but his rating is 1605 right now.

Outstanding research batgirl, thanks!  Pioneers are some of the most interesting people especially when they have some degree of success.

I meant his standard live rating (1215), which I think is the best reflection of chess ability. Will edit my post to clarify. Thanks.

I think the game itself is not as attractive to women, and thus the huge imbalance between the sexes. But I also suspect that there are more women playing here than we believe...since many, such as myself prefer to remain invisible.

Yes, I know there are plenty under cover.
