 Arigalt.

The vacation button is not there if you need more time as you can only go 'on vacation' when it it not your move. In effect you're giving your opponents more time. Some might argue, that being able to do this without having to request it of your opponent, is unfair.

So you're saying you can give your opponents more time by going on vacation? I guess that eliminates the need for the add more time button.

actually I'm incorrect, when you go on vacation your opponent still has to make their move within the normal time limit.

I've just noticed something though. If you go for one of the payment options it gives you the option of having an auto 'stop from losing on time'. I'm not sure that's fair at all.

Sure it's fair. It's the same as if you left on vacation, forgot to put yourself on vacation before leaving, so then called up a friend and said, "Hey, can you put me on vacation please on Chess.com, so I don't lose all my games." In this case, the staff of Chess.com is the friend, and we do it for you without you having to call us. :)

Running out of time is part of speed chess, in this case correspondence chess, and if he didn't care enough to log on to play, the game wasn't important to him.

Erik, I have an even better idea: Why not have a "Pink" star membership too? Where all the girly-men can know who they are and have as many buttons they want to program their Girly-men" games? Want to adjorn? Fine. Want to take 3 weeks to move so they can go shopping? Fine. Avoid losing rating points? Fine. Maybe even meet up in the Minneapolis Airport washroom with a US Senator for a little toe-tapping in the stalls? That would make them all happy I am sure.

Say $1 extra per month for each extra button? Great idea. Everybody is happy and you make more money?

 ROFL!!!  LOL!!

this is no different to loosing on time over the board...............if you can't make a move inside of a day to 3 days then you are definatley the slower thinker of the two and thus the looser.

but in over the board play the circumstances are equal for both of you but across the net you have no idea whats happening to your opponent.but hell still your victory by right of time lol claim those pathetic noobs incapable of moving due to personal circumstance. Times part of the game and a take back button an unnecary evil encouraging whiny people with no sportmanship. A loss is a loss you got to deal with it
Avatar of millerthesmurf

its part of chess guys youve just gotta deal wit it you get even less time in club and proper tornament games

It's part of competitive chess.  The question is, does it really need to be part of chess on an online site that is mainly used for learning?
