World Chess Championship Question

I just read in Chessdom.com that Peter Leko is in Anand’s team of seconds. Carlsen has declined to reveal his "seconds."

Does anyone know what that means?

people who helped him prepare, especially preparing openings. Basically a support crew

OK, so what's the issue for Carlsen not revealing his second's name? Does it matter at all, or is it a "phychological" move from his part?

It may be simple psychology.  Maybe he made an agreement with one of his seconds not to reveal his name.  It doesn't change much.  Anand revealing Leko is as much a psychological move as Carlsen not saying anything.

Pretty trivial stuff IMO, and I think the players would agree.  The only thing that matters will happen on the board.

If I understand correctly, there's actually some chess reasons too.  Say one of Carlsen's seconds is a sicilian dragon expert for example.   That could tip his opponent off that he's leaning towards that response to e4.  If you know who your opponents seconds are, you can study them to gain some understanding of what your opponent might do based on his coaching.

That's true.
