Well I mean the worst thing to do on your first move.
The worst opening by far is resigning on your first move. At least you are trying a little when you play a3. Resigning is just... HoRrIbLe. <--- Spells horrible, I made it silly just to show how bad resigning on the first move is. Well even when your 1100 and your playing Magnus Carlson, you should at least try, besides, it's an honor for a 1100 to play Magnus the 2800 FIDE rated beast.
