Would expanding chess guard against it ever being solved?

As computing power becomes more powerful, the possibility of solving chess grows closer.  But chess could be expanded to have more squares, more pieces, or, as in an episode of Star Trek TNG, multiple vertical levels.  Any expansion of chess would make solving it exponentially more difficult.

who cares if it's solved? there will be a bazillion and on variations which no one can memorise. It wont change how it's played at any level.

Oh yeah. Totally. The pieces could be like spaceships red and blue and such. Instead of the kerfuffle of one level, multiple levels.....it's all about the levels BRAH
