Would you ever put $1-$20 on your online chess matches, like you might in a park?

I am curious why a website for chess wagering does not exist (or is at least not mainstream). The only major reason I can think of is the difficulty of preventing cheating using engines, but I'm wondering if this is the only barrier, or if there are legal or community issues too.

Would you use a site like this if it existed? Why or why not? What kind of experience would you expect?

Any thoughts on why this hasn't been done/successful?

You named one and only reason which stops such site to appear.

I often see messages like “hey, what about playing several games for $1-10 per game?” in social media.

Such guys usually do not have any knowledge about chess but they think that they found easy money. And everyone is so stupid to play such games with no name from internet.

think it's an ok idea if there are very strict anti cheat measures such as desktop live stream and only 1-0 time control.

I would, but I think there'd have to be some sort of screenshare and streaming alongside it - the incentive for cheats when there's prize money would make the site unplayable otherwise.

#4 bullet is the worst the site would b unplayable without other time controls
