I'll be the first to admit I didn't see this coming.

I thought the lack of team unity would hurt. Clearly it's been OK so far.

Well there's still no unity, but it's not mattering. So we got that going for us!

why what happened with team USA-

you would expect with a number of them being in the top ten of chess, that they should do well, right?

are they??

Avatar of thegreat_patzer

apparently, Team USA has some kind of nice achievement today- it hasn't hit the cc newsfeed yet and I'd love to hear about what the professionals were able to do today in the olympiad.

Lack of team unity?  It's not a basketball game.

They have 3 of the top 10 players in the world, and beat India today who was leading.

Usa is weak. Naka is only strong at bullet. Wesley is easily outplayed when he is out of his prep and the other ones in the U.S. team dont matter.

Even tho the great team of Russia got wreckt by Ukraine I dont think USA will have a chance.

Aditionally, you may want to say: "WOW, TEAM INMIGRANTS" as almost every succesful chess player hasnt been American at all.

Even Bobby Fischer.

His mom wasn't from USA, nor his father.

Time to open your eyes, MURICA SUCKS.

This commet is approved by Big Chum.

Why does everyone think it's some kind of insult to point out there are immigrants in America?  All it points out if that other countries can't hold onto their talent, and that there's some reason people want to immigrate to America.  Kudos to America, I guess?

Everything is relative.  Watch:

Russia is weak:  Kramnik has a weak bladder, and Karjakin isn't even in the top 10.  Svidler who, the commentator?  Grischuk is a blitz player who is worse than Nakamura...

See, anyone can do it.

Is Caruana playing?

its not an insult to point out that immigrants have defined the USA.almost no one writing under the USA flag would be here without immigrants.

ofc the troll is just writing to get people all stirred up.  I'm not falling for that ' sock ' game.

congrats to Team USA!

Fabiano Caruana: “Organizers have done a great job”

The USA has defeated the yet unbeaten Ukrainian side with a score 2.5:1.5 in the sixth round of the 42nd Chess Olympiad in Baku. The only victory was brought to the US team by its leader Fabiano Caruana.

In a press conference after the game, 24-year-old Caruana said, "So far the tournament has been going quite well for us. We have not lost in six rounds and are ahead of Russia and China in overall standings. This is a good result so far. This US team is very young. The match against Ukraine was rather difficult, but I managed to secure a victory," Caruana said.

Fabiano Caruana noted that the rest day worked very well for him. "I tried not to think about chess yesterday. I wanted to relax my brain a little. This helped me save some energy for the match against Ukraine. I am glad that we got the upper hand over a strong opponent," he added

Caruana has had his bad tournaments too...

but certainly, when his is in top form he is Very strong, as singuefield 2014 showed.

Russia is still board 1 and not far down at all on the standings.  and no team should be underestimated if team USA wants gold.

I'm also not so suprised you picked on shankland  (who isn't quite the caliber of three of his American teammates), but what you have against so is beyond me.  Wesley So has been doing great recently.   do you just not like his playing style or something?

Yes, he's too tanned to be a Spaniard.

The rules on switching nationality for chess do seem crazy relaxed.

Serious attention is not what I am looking for.

Read my profile, this is just a social experiment to prove how stupid the avg chess.com user is.

I think I will close my account just to let my "Why is everyone a patzer" topic on the forums, that way people realize they just got trolled by a superior human being.

Again...The problem with your "act" is it's been done.  You contributed, and learned nothing.  You tried reinventing the wheel, which has also been done already.  Enjoy the weekend.
