You are blocked

A quick way to check if you have been blocked by a person on the forums.

Please note that this forum topic is not about discussing if blocking is a good or bad thing.

Step 1

You need to check your settings on your account:

Menu | Home | Settings | Privacy

Send and Receive Messages

1. All members

2. Only my friends

You need to make sure that the default is selected: All members.

If a person has selected the other option then they are basically blocking almost everybody.

Step 2

Go to the forums and select any topic, then select any comment by any person.

Then hover your mouse over the user name of the person.

Note that you can do this right here on this topic.

The little box will pop up, the same one you use when blocking.

Look on the left hand side, you will see a board icon and a message icon.

If you do not see those icons then ...

You have been blocked

Step 3

Being lazy ...

Once you know how it works ...

Just glance at the icons, if lots of icons then not blocked, otherwise blocked.

Notice

Please note that I will block rude people, trolls, spammers and "experts"

That has nothing to do with the forums. That is only for private messages.

When they block you then you can not send them private messages, post notes on their profile or challenge them to a game

and ...

You can not post on any forum topic that they have created.

It also blocks automatic match making for games, they are never matched with you.

Yes, that is correct. When you are blocked, you can't do those things. But having the privacy option set to friends only will still allow unblocked members to post in forums created by the member.

I apologize if I misunderstood what you where stating.

I have seen people asking this question on the forums.

How can you tell if you have been blocked without having to go to the persons profile.

Most people just leave the settings on default: All members.

So this is a quick way to do it on the actual forum.

Just hover over the name, glance at the icons.

Trump likes apples.

What does that have to do with anything?

1. You created your account 7 days ago.

2. You spam a lot, 110 posting points in 7 days = 15 posts per day.

3. You inserted the above text under my name, I did not write that.

So for these reasons:

You have been blocked.

At least CoolCh3essPlayer now knows how to check he has been.

Probably me wink.png

You can see your list under: Menu | Home | Settings | Blocking

But you have to count them, other people can not see your list, probably a good thing, avoids flare ups on the forums.

A diplomatic approach would be to only block strong abuse by trolls, spammers, rude people or "experts"

You may also consider blocking that person or persons that seem to stalk you, they always have something negative to say on your topics.

Your threads will have less traffic if you start blocking but at least they will no longer be a complete mess.
