Does that mean 5 minutes on a digital clock ?

5 minutes with no increment is pretty brutal. But that's how we rolled back in the old days with primitive analog clocks.

10 minutes. I like 3 and 5 minutes too but I need a time control of 10 minutes at least to be able to think deep. At shorter time controls I do often win by time instead of positionally
Some interesting answers here, I can see some people prefer increment where's some don't, I personally hate increment what so ever and my favorite time 3|0.
I personally think that 3|0 is a perfect time to see if you are a parzer or a master, some people cry oh it's not enough time, I can't win bla bla bla excuses if you are a strong player that's more then enough.
I was playing once a player that I challenged for money 3|0 min game OTB and first game I resigned after 45 seconds I still had like 2 mins something on the clock, second game I had like 1.45 or something and had to resign again, I had a feeling that computer was playing with me no doubt about it if it was online where I didn't see the player I would definitely report him of cheating, BUT here he was in front of me , real person! I was like wtf! I couldn't even play it look pathetic like I just started yesterday, so I had to ask .. " Hey man what is your rating ? I asked, he replied strong enough, I insist come on man I know that what is it, then he tells me 26 hundred something, I had no further questions that answered all my questions all in once.
So my point is if you know how to play 3|0 is more the enough to test your skills level.
