zugwang-type positional positions in middlegame

Hello, What I have noted in games of players of less than 2000 elo against an opponent of more than 2000, is that they usually play well tactically, but they "break" the game in a desfavourable positional position for them, so they loose the game alone, while the best opponent only has to play safe moves and wait for his opponent to go wrong. The strong player is only an expectator. This happens often. But when the level is stronger, i.e. two opponent of more than 2000, they both "contain" (i.e. the break moves) the opponent and play safes moves that improve the possition a bit in each one. None make a clear wrong move that loose de game, maybe little concesions, but not a clear one. I am myself aroung 1950 so I am now starting to suffer of this issue. Now I "foreseen" this situation and make less clear wrong moves than before.... but in the battle of little improvements, I find myself in situation that are like a kind of zugwang, I mean, I have developed all my pieces the better I can, but if I move now, I made one of the pieces to go to a worse position, and opening the position is not a valid option as I would stay worse after that. For strong player, are this situation familiar to you? how to deal with it? Regards Fer
