So, Hikaru has about 60% chances to draw, 40 % chances to win and ZERO% chances to lose against Anand today

Expect the unexpected sometimes , Anand played really good chess today ..Always wonderful to see him perform well....

Good to see Anand winning (what I think is his first classical win ) against Nakamura .

One more thing here which I feel good about is him winning not because of his opening prep (like some people rightly pointed out in this forum), but rather because he played a solid accurate game today . The tournament gets really interesting now ....

Anand next world champion

Anand is really showing what a great player he still is, if he wins Zurich he will have won four of his last five tournaments.

All without Carlsen?

Avatar of blitzjoker

I think people underestimate Anand because he struggles against Carlsen.  He's still very hard to beat, and clinical once he gets an advantage.

Yes, the last time Anand won a classical tournament with Carlsen present was Linares 2008 when Carlsen finished second. But when Carlsen isn't in the field he does better.

ANNNNNNAANNND

Karjakin now 11 wins and one draw in his last dozen white games against Kramnik (all time controls).

What doesn't seem too serious is the organisers suddenly changing the tiebreak rules, according to the regulations it's SB but now they decided to have a blitz playoff instead of following their own rules.

Did Kramnik win the (solo) rapid part?

Avatar of fabelhaft

Did they call it off now?

Avatar of fabelhaft

No, they play an Armageddon game for it instead, really horribly organised... How can they change the regulations after Anand already had won the event according to the official rules?

Avatar of fabelhaft

Shame on the organisers for this.

Avatar of fabelhaft

So now Nakamura won the tournament instead :-)

Yes, Kramnik won the rapid part.

Really disgusting on part of the organizers . Vishy really shouldn't have played the playoff . Changing rules like this at the end like it is a school tournament .

This is most probably the last time you will see Vishy at Zurich . He is not a club player to be meted out with such a treatment .I am not sure if any other chess player in his place would agree to play after such last moment changing of rules . He's always so nice and controversy free , sometimes it really hurts his performance .This is what makes him so easily likeable , he should not have played today .

"Really disgusting on part of the organizers"

Agreed.

That really is an outrage fabelhaft ! They shouldnt be allowed to change the rules like that .  Who can stop them ?  FIDE ?  How has Anand taken all this ?
