Its normal, it happens a lot
502 2 days in a row?

I have the same issue. But when I reload the page, multiple times the screen appears. This clearly states that there is no fault in the server, but this thing is constantly appearing. Please look into it

I've had this lately too; I think chess.com has been having a few server issues and bugs because of some software updates or something, but I'm not certain. With about 20 million active chess.com accounts and about 100 million chess.com accounts total, that is a lot of potential strain on the servers to keep running smoothly. Sometimes it is easy to forget just how big chess.com is in scale; I'm usually patient with them as a result. No one likes having the servers down for a bit.

Huh, I haven't gotten any 502s this morning! I guess our panhandling for server money made a difference!

I just got a few more 502 errors. That didn't last very long... Goin' back downtown for more panhandling...

ok sometimes i get server error notifications like twice a month or so but i got the same screen 2 days in a row
There has been higher load than normal and staff are working on it.

This has been happening for me a lot too. Funny how the completely free Lichess servers are so much better.

Sure, but you match server supply to match demand, particularly for paying customers
Which is done but when demand unexpectedly exceeds planned growth then issues can happen. In most cases, creating capacity a lot higher than expected needs, is a waste of resources.

Right, but Lichess, and for that matter any web service (twitch, youtube) must contend with exactly the same issue, and I don't see them suffering the same perennial service outages.

The base issues are the same, the magnitude is different. The site had 10 million visitors yesterday and almost 20 million games played.
The sites you mentioned are operated by multi-billion dollar companies. Their scales and resources are vastly different as well.

try clearing your cache...
I did and it does no change any thing Sir, the problem originates from the servers which need to be updated or more numerous. Chess.com did not expect a sudden surge of players... now we all face the consequence but chess.com is doing its best to alleviate this troublesome issue which will last days if not weeks... let's see.

To clarify, you're arguing that Lichess is too small to experience these issues, but youtube is too big? It's not sporadic outages that are the main complaint here, at least to me. It's the ongoing problems that have been going on for months.

I'm saying that another site not experiencing the same issue as another in the same category can be related to the difference in traffic profiles. If the same level of traffic were to hit that site, there's a very good chance they would also have issues.
I'm also saying that a multi-billion dollar company, with more resources in money, staff, hardware, etc has different scales of issues. Those types of sites also have outages so...
