abandonment

What are the rules around abandoning a game. There have been times when I’ve waited for 10-15 mins of my opponent not moving before I get the message that they’ve abandoned. Yet sometimes I leave the chess.com app on my phone for less than a minute to reply to a text and Get the message I’ve abandoned. Frustrating!!

The rules are pretty straightforward, I might suggest you double check your phones ability to hold multiple apps and your internet connection. I have a suggestion for the app: there are lots of abandonments during losing positions. You have a pretty good job of editing the rules so players aren't stuck for too long (the half-game before 10 moves, etc). However, another way to improve it may be to reduce the number of touches to resign. Right now on mobile it is 3 touches. Menu, resign, and confirm. What if there was a swipe method, then confirm? Or some other way to make it 2. Then it would feel less like returning the cart to the store. The kind of thing everyone should do, but a lot just don't. Thanks for reading.
