Abort feature disabled

Hello all,

The abort feature does not work for me. Is this just me, or did chess.com disable this? I found it really annoying when I got paired this morning against a player who is 450 rating points lower than mine, and obviously I wouldn’t want to play that, so I click where the abort button should be, but it’s a resign button and I lose 15 rating points. Is my account blocked for aborting games because I disobeyed one of chess.com’s policies? Also, would it be possible to get my points refunded?

Please help,

-TwhylerM

Maybe this...

I don't see the abort option, what's going on?

The abort feature is meant to be used sparingly, only in circumstances where you know you won't be able to finish the game. Players who abuse the abort feature by using it too often will have the option removed. Please follow our community guidelines and only abort games when necessary.

If you find that your ability to abort has been removed, you must simply keep playing games. Once you have played a number of games without aborting, the option will return.

When I abort games it’s necessary , like when my opponent is 450 rating points below mine, so this utterly ridiculous.

You can change your seek settings to keep challenges in a range you would prefer.

The restriction is for aborting to many games, as a percentage of completed ones, over a certain time frame.

I usually do have my challenges set to a certain rating range, but this just causes the wait time for 15|10 games to be upwards of 7 minutes.
