Why do I get the message "game automatically aborted".

Avatar of Artsew

Probably because the game was automatically aborted.

Gee thanks, that really clears things up.  Why was it automatically aborted.  Doesn't one of the players have to abort the game?

you're welcome.

The question is a bit to vague to me to give a more specific reaction.

Was it a live game on chess.com?

Did your opponent stay online or not? (perhaps he disconnected?)

Did it abort before any move was played?

What is the difference between when a player aborts a game and when the game is automatically aborted?  I have no reason to think the player has gone offline.  The games are live games on chess.com.

Hahaha I actually laughed out loud at this response! :D

And then: "Gee thanks, that really clears things up."

You guys are classic!

And sorry Joesparov I cannot help you with your question.

it means a player has you blocked, so any games you play aginst that player(s) is auto aborted

No, it means that your opponent took too long to take their first move.
