Hello,

 

As a Platinum Member I find it unfair that I have to endure all the ads on the Android app including live video ads. I tend to use the app more than the pc site because I'm on the go quite a bit. Since more and more people are going to be using tablets and apps I think this problem should be addressed. The ratings/reviews for the Android app have steadily declined and I'm not the only one tired of these ads popping up.

I would tend to agree with you on this point because the premium membership and subscriptions page, states "No Advertisements"; however, it  does state, "Get rid of all ads on Chess.com with a Premium Membership!" It does not say get rid of all ads on chess.com and the andriod app feature.  However, a reasonable person could be lead to believe that there would be no advertisements on anything provided by Chess.com not simply the website. From a legal standpoint, I think they should specify or not have any ads for premium plus members.

I replied to your support ticket on this.

Since upgrading your account, have you tried un-installing and re-installing the app?

It may be that the app doesn't recognise your upgrade on membership.

I'm still getting ads after installing, uninstalling etc. I'd like to get a refund. $49 is too much to get aggravated. I use the app more than the website. Please refund using the 30 day guarantee. thanks

I never filed a support ticket or anything, but here's my experience.

I'm pretty sure I installed the android app after I signed up for premium membership, but I still saw ads until I installed the latest app update several days ago.

I don't know if I've seen the last of them due to the update, but so far so good.

I'm sorry about this. I can arrange a refund for you, but before I do, can you tell me which app version you're using please?

You can find this by going from Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / Chess.com

It'll be in the top right corner. The latest app version is 1.952
