Still happening. To me, it seems to be a bit of a serious issue, because a lot of sites use, "pay per click" ads. If I had a business advertising on Chess.com, am I being charged for clicks that aren't really happening?

exactly, thats what so worrisome about this
chess.com are also collecting revenue for clicks that aren't really clicks

The problem is bad ads, not something the site is doing. Staff have worked on disabling ads that seem to be causing the issue and are working with the ad providers to get them removed from their systems as well and not make them available for the site. Most of them should be stopped now as I understand it.

yes i have gotten it multiple times today for me the first time i got one was about a week and a half ago also i will check on the link
I've been online a lot today and none have opened automatically for me, so I think it's fixed.
I had about 8 open while I was playing today I don't know what you did but it's not fixed for me
Oh that's unfortunate. I don't think I've been doing anything differently so ig it was just fixed for some people and not others.

The fix was the site blocking problem ads and working with the ad providers to remove them. It's possible there are new problem ads and if so please use the information in the link provided to report them.
I was appalled to see an ad mid game. If I see many more of these I'm switching to another site.
Why not use an addblocker and be done with it?
