Is there a rule that prevents a pawn from advancing to promotion and simultaneously block a check on the king?

No. But of you have a specific position you're asking about, that might help to clarify.

Thank you for your response Martin. I was working on today's (11/27) daily puzzle and wanted to explore a different line instead of the solution. So stupid me when I attempted to move the white pawn backwards, the program (Of course) would not allow me to do it. Ha, Ha, Ha.
