After trying to cancel my free trial I've been charged 49.99 EUR! Help?

Hello all! I'm not going to say Chess.com is being fraudulent etc. etc. etc. So, my predicament is that after I cancelled the free trial, On the same day, I received an alert and an email that I've been charged 44.99 EUR by Chess.com. I logged on and saw that I had the membership achievement pop up. Obviously this is frustrating to me, and just to clarify I did not pay with PayPal (I've seen online that can cause problems) . I looked into it and I proceeded to send a customer support message straight away.

That was 2 days ago. Anyway after sending that customer support message, I checked my email to find an email from Alex of Chess.com support, telling me that my cancelation will be stopped, and I'll be given a month free of premium, to entice me later on to actually subscribe to it. Then, to more frustration, the membership I never wanted to pay for is just cancelled! I did not do this, and now I just feel like I've been stolen from sad.png

I'm going to continue to wait for a response from customer support (I know it's busy). The reason I'm writing this is to get any help from fellow Chess.com players, and if I'm lucky gain the attention of a moderator who can maybe sort this out for me happy.png (I've seen similar responses to other peoples similar situations on the forums, so it's worth a shot)

P.S I've told customer support in other subsequent messages about the cancelation and the email from Alex of Chess.com support. Still waiting for a response though (Again, I know it's busy).

Many thanks! From Alessio.

No one outside of support can do anything for you.

Like thousands before you, you waited until after your free week trial was up before you cancelled.

So they had already put through the charge before you cancelled. But they are used to that. They have a first time money back guarantee.

You said you wanted to cancel , so they put through the cancellation and you will soon have your money refunded.

No one stole anything from you.

You've already had a relatively quick response from them.  I am sure they will help you sort it out.

I'm sorry for not making myself clear. The email I received from Alex was NOT in response to my customer support messages. It was in response to me cancelling the free trial and subsequent renewal of the membership. If it helps I can get the time stamps?...

No point.

No one outside of support can help you.

As @notmtwain mentioned, support will have to assist with a refund.  It is also the weekend so that will impact processing.

Thank you for the replies! You are very likely right, I hadn't considered it being the weekend now either. Hopefully my refund goes through okay. Happy Holidays from Italy!

Found out you should be good now.
