Alert malfunction

At some point I checked a box on some page to alert me if there were any more postings on that page. Apparently, there was a posting, but when I tried to access the page, it now says I have to be "friends" with the person who owns that page. That's all well and good, but the problem now is that I can't satisfy the alert (or uncheck the box to eliminate future alerts) and now have a perpetual alert for that page.  Is there some way to get rid of this?

The same problem happens with vote chess once you leave a group and leave the game.  You still get the alerts.  If you find out, let me know too!

One thing you might try doing is creating a forum topic under the "Help & Support" asking for advice.

Seriously though, a centralized page with a listing of all of our alerts and the ability to remove them would be a useful feature that should be able to address this without requiring us to go to each page on which we have an alert to remove it.

    select your "my home" tab; then "account"; then "alert and e-mail settings".

I've had this ghost alert for 4 days now. It just won't go away by itself. I think I need an exorcist.
