Alerts aren't disappearing today

Usually, when I click on "read" or "ignore" after an alert, it will disappear from the list the next time I refresh a page.  Today though, my Messages alerts and Group Activity alerts pop right back up on each new page, even for items I've already deleted.  What is going on?

LOL I am having the exact opposite ...

In the past 20 minutes I have received 5 messages and received no alerts for them ...

I had an alert that wouldn't go away. Now it's gone but I'm not getting any alerts at all.

Yes, something fishy is going on, none of my alerts will disappear.

Ok, now that problem seems to be fixed, and alerts are no longer sticky. However, a new problem has cropped up. Team match games, and only team match games will not show up in the alert section; for regular moves and for finished games. This is happening repeatedly, and is not a single incident. This is strange because everything else is functioning normally.

You can actually switch alerts off that you don't want to get 

I can't load any of the advanced browsers onto my Windows 2000 computer.  That is my major problem.  Need an upgrade.
