That doesn't seem to work - 
I've tried that, tried changing boards, tried logging on/off, etc. and nothing seems to show the board with algebraic notation along the side/top.
Algebraic (sp?) notation...

just FYI - the algebraic is INSIDE of the squares. set your board to LARGE and maybe that will help?
Did you click on the button that says "Save Preferences"? That may be the problem, because if you didn't, nothing changes.

Bingo! That was it. The squares were too small for me to notice the notation INSIDE the squares - I've always been used to notation outside the board. Thanks much. Mystery solved! 
I'm a newbie here. I set my preferences for my board to show algebraic notation - but that didn't seem to change things. So what do I do?
