Yeah, that choice is stored in a cookie, so you would at least need to enable cookies from the site to not be prompted.

I do not understand...how do I "enable cookies from this site to not be prompted"
I wish I was on a site that didn't spam me with useless pop-ups!!

If you are getting the pop-up described in the OP then it isn't storing your choice, so the cookie must not be stored.
If that isn't what you are getting, then you can disable the alerts in Settings or clear your cookies and click No, thanks when prompted with that dialog.
Well, I cleared my cookies...and it still appears. Not sure how to disable alerts in settings. I guess, disable all chess.com notifications...but I actually do not want to disable all notifications just this one. I have reported this as a bug...but who knows when they will get around to fixing this..this site always seems to have bugs.
Is that the pop-up you are getting? Or are you getting pop-ups of your alerts in https://www.chess.com/settings/notifications
It would be something on the client side causing it if you said no to that dialog and it keeps coming up. I only see it when I log on in private/incognito mode and only once during a single session.
I am getting the pop up which is detailed in this thread. This starting happening a couple of hours ago...I am not sure how I would be to blame for this...it is not happening on any other site I visit, so I would assume this is a chess.com bug.
If you click one of the options, the browser will set a cookie with that choice in it. If your browser is prevented from doing that, the site doesn't see that cookie and will prompt you.
So, if you have certain privacy settings, cookie blockers, or other security based plugins/add-ons then that can impact you seeing the pop-up.
So...I need to go search through the entirety of my computer for this cookie or lack of same...in order to fix a problem, when I have not made any recent changes or updates to my computer, so that I can stop chess.com from spamming me with its worthless notification...??
Well, I have to work in the morning so, no...perhaps later. Or perhaps I should find a new chess site...these kind of bugs are constantly happening on this site...and the worst thing is, they make it seem like it is your fault.
The site recently added the notification option to take advantage of browser capabilities. So, it is a new feature but the site can't control if your browser might be blocking things on your side.
It isn't really a bug. You might include your browser type and version. Maybe someone can prove pointers on things to check, assuming you have a stock install of the browser.
What is interesting is that I can't recreate the issue on the beta and can't even get it to pop up after clearing cookies or off the beta. I even removed the setting in Firefox Privacy & Security > Notifications.
I notice that I can force the prompt in beta through the site's Notifications page but that option is not available when not in beta. I'm going to try with deleting all data/cache and cookies and see if I can recreated as well.
I'm using Firefox 74 (developer's edition) so I guess it is possible previous versions don't like something with the way the option is coded.
If you are having the problem, I suggest logging out, clearing our your cache, including chess.com cookies and signing back in. It is very possible some old cached files are ultimately causing the problem.
I am running Firefox 74.0b6
I have already logged out...rebooted and emptied cache and cookies to no avail. I am not sure what further actions must be taken? Not sure of the exact privacy protection which I must stop using...or if it is a good idea to take down all privacy protection...just so chess.com can send me pops-ups that I do not want. Your help is appreciated but it is frustrating to have to go through this because chess.com tried to "TAKE ADVANTAGE of my browser capabilities..."

Thank you for your help! I do appreciate you taking the time to answer questions. I ended up marking chess.com "allowed to send garbage of any kind..." which seemed to do the trick. It is still annoying to have to compromise privacy in order to stop this pop-up.
Cheers.
I logged in today and got the pop-up on my home page for the first time ever. A few clicks with uBlock Origin, and the element was blocked. I think I've killed it. :-)))))
On every page load I get the annoying request to enable notifications (see below). I use several cookie blockers, ad blockers etc. How can I get rid of this popup?
Enable Chess.com notifications in your browser, and instantly know when…
(You can choose the events that matter to you in your Chess.com Notification settings.)
