I am trying to understand are the puzzles on Chess.com based on real game tactics from actual games played by good players? I spend a lot of time on puzzles but don't know if it's actually helping me get better.

It would be useful to know if the puzzles are realistic or are just for fun.

Real games. They show the info on who played and when when you click on analysis.

/ If you click on the names, you can see both are 2000+ rated players.

/ The above come from puzzles you recently played.

I see that now.  I just did some puzzles and do see the games. It would be nice to click on those games and see how they got to that position and get further context. Is there a way to do that and I just can find where to search out the game the puzzle is pulled from?

I agree that would be a nice feature.

to notmtwain, or who else knows: can one access the actual game from the android app? or only available on desktop version?

Also: A couple more questions: 1- Are there ANY of the tactics problems that are NOT from realized games? and 2- Are there any in which the correct answer is castling?

The app doesn't support that.

Pretty sure there are composed problems and there certainly are some that involve castling.
