I did a search for "pre" on that "The Complete Guide To Chess.com Features" article and found no references to how to premove on desktop.

Yes, https://support.chess.com/ is a good place for specific questions, especially about rule, settings, etc. It includes site features as well but the other link provided is a more general guide.
