This is my understanding of the best move %: if your best move percentage is 25%, then it means that you've played the "best move" 25% of the time. If your best move % is 50%, then half of the time you've made the "best move." The best move is determined by an engine based on a scoring system that ranks every possible move.

the thing I can't figure out / understand is why it updates my % when it moves my opponents pieces

I don't use the analysis feature often, but I believe the computer analyzes your opponent's moves, not only yours. So your opponent would have a best move % too
Can someone explain or point me to the explanation of what the best move % is when you get the computer to analyze your game?
I thought it was if you made the best move in the position. but I can't understand why my % is updated as the computer shows the moves of my opponents pieces. Same for them
