I think the system is pretty transparent. The membership screen shows your expiration of your premium membership. You have 30 days money back. Always take the time to check out the rules for all this free stuff your signing up for. It has end dates when you have to start paying for it.

Click "help" at the top of the screen then click "billing issues". That will give you a form to contact the billing staff.

I personally do not like the system where once you have subscribed to a service it is automatically renewed/billed unless you notify the company you do not wish to pay.
However it is very very common in todays world.
The solution is to read the terms you are signing up to. I would never give my bank/paypal/card details to anyone unless i had read their terms of business. If you don't like the auto renewal, then don't sign up. The choice is yours. To then complain that you have had your money "taken" or "stolen" is nonsense.
Instead of complaining on open forum i do not understand why folk don't contact the accounts department and ask for a refund. Chess.com will do so willingly.

Not really a GM; I admire your passion but the examples you cite......restaurant.....machanic.....are "brick & mortar" business models. This is an electronic medium. If someone's card is in THAT dire condition, perhaps they shouldn't have a card. We've had many threads about this issue down through the yrs. The card is your obligation.....responcibility.....and freedom to use. If Chess.com automatically renews your billing cycle,...are you gonna sue your bank for approving it?

Can I drive your car without permission? I doubt you have ins for un-authorized drivers. Again, 19th century business model. Your gonna say that you do everything to lock your car when not in use, but you & I know that cars get stolen everyday.
