pretty much as the title say, google is no help, everytime i load onto a game, my black pieces will be black for a moment then they turn white, there's nothing obvious in the settings that affect this or change it.

Are you using the website? Or one of the apps?

It looks like you played 5 games a couple of weeks ago. I assume you didn't have the same problem then.

Has anything changed in your setup since then?

nope, it wqas like this ever since i started, the pieces would appear black at first whenever the page loads, then once the page has completely loaded, they'll turn white

Very strange - is this on the website or one of the smartphone apps? If it's on the website, you should be able to get it up on screen and then use the Help --> Report a Bug option to capture a screen shot and report it to the Developers.

Actually, that's probably what you should do for the app as well, except that will involve getting a screen shot and then logging on to the web site to upload that photo via https://support.chess.com/article/346-contact-us

Did you install any browser extensions?
Another member recently reported a color change with the pieces which was caused by an extension.

Do you see this with other browsers?

I just joined, and all the black pieces are ghostly white in Firefox. They are perfect on Android smartphone. Developers are at fault, they don't know what they're doing. I prefer to play chess on desktop, not on an effin phone! Coders are getting confused. Too many variables to cope with. HTML5 bugs. Fix bug for mobile, screw it up on desktop. That kind of thing. Big tech crap.

I don't have any problems like that. Try loading a different piece set and see if that helps.

Tried that. Makes no difference. Has to be a browser-specific bug. I don't use Chrome or Bing, so I can't say whether they're affected. But the chessboard looks great on smartphone. It's a coding bug and must be fixed asap. Like buying a vehicle without the steering wheel.

I use Firefox on my laptop and haven't seen any issues like that. I if you have any software/add-ons that might be blocking scripts, that can certainly cause issues. Corrupted files in the browser cache can as well

Exactly. I installed Ubuntu two days ago, which comes with Firefox. Maybe it's a Linux thing. Just one add-on added. Will check it out tomorrow.

Even still, the coders' are to blame. Can't rely on third-party software to be tested. The whole lot has got out of hand. Bad business to sell buggy stuff. Clients walk away.

As @manekapa mentioned it could be due to an extension. I had the same problem, but found it to be at the Chrome Extension Dark Reader was turning the black pieces white. Once I disabled the dark reader for chess.com the problem was resolved.

No, it's not possible for the site to cover all eventualities and add-on code can modify a site's output anyway.

I found that turning on dark mode is what caused the issue for me. I haven't found a workaround for it yet, other than turning off dark mode.

Switch of your Dark mode extension in the chrome or any other browser you are using.

I have just figured out if you ever enabled- Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents in chrome://flags it will make your black side turn white even if you disabled dark reader, so you must disable this flag and turn off dark reader for your pieces to stop glitching out.

Disable Force Dark Mode in your browser, at least for Chess.com.

I disable force dark mode in my browser but still didn't do the trick, what should I do?
